Lee Lancashire

PhD

Dr. Lee Lancashire brings over 20 years of expertise in machine learning and statistics to his position as Head of Data Science at Every Cure. Specializing in the development of artificial neural network methodologies, his PhD research pioneered the application of neural nets to large-scale bioinformatics datasets. Before joining Every Cure, Lee served in a senior leadership capacity as Chief Information Officer, and later as Chief Data and AI Officer at Cohen Veterans Bioscience, where he led the strategy direction on numerous initiatives, developing innovative multi-modal systems modelling techniques for biomarker and drug target discovery using advanced AI.

Previously, at the IP&Science business of Thomson Reuters, Lee led the machine learning and statistical data analysis team. Under his leadership, the team delivered analytical projects that catered to the majority of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, as well as various government, academic, and non-profit organizations. His team’s work focused extensively on patient stratification, drug target identification, and repurposing, integrating graph- and network-based machine learning with molecular disease profiling.

Following his post-doctoral research in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, a core facility of Cancer Research UK, Lee held significant positions CompanDX — a company founded from his PhD work – and Almac Diagnostics, where he worked as bioinformatics scientist in the diagnostics space.

Lee has made significant contributions to the field, authoring over 40 articles in key industry journals and holding several patents in the use of neural networks within the biomedical domain. He also serves on a number of  technical advisory boards and expert panels that focus on AI, healthcare, and technology.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Lee dedicates time to volunteering as a trustee and as treasurer for the Ichthyosis Support Group, one of the largest charities supporting individuals and families with rare skin disorders.
