Dr. David Fajgenbaum receives the 2025 John Scott Award, one of the oldest and most prestigious science awards in America

Philadelphia, PA — November 20, 2025 — Every Cure is proud to announce that Dr. David C. Fajgenbaum, Co-Founder and President of Every Cure and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, has been named a recipient of the 2025 John Scott Award, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious scientific honors.

Established over 220 years ago to recognize “ingenious men and women” whose work improves the welfare of humanity, the John Scott Award has been presented to scientific pioneers including Marie Curie, Katalin Karikó, Drew Weissman, and 20 other future Nobel Prize winners.

Dr. Fajgenbaum is being honored for his groundbreaking work advancing drug repurposing—a field he entered after discovering a life-saving treatment for his own rare disease using an existing FDA-approved drug. His research has since helped advance 13 additional repurposed treatments, saving thousands of lives, and inspired the creation of Every Cure, an AI-driven nonprofit dedicated to uncovering the full potential of existing medicines.

“This recognition is a tremendous honor,” Fajgenbaum said. “I am incredibly grateful to be alive and to dedicate every moment to helping save more lives with existing medicines.”

The 2025 award ceremony, hosted by the Board of Directors of City Trusts, takes place today at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia.
