
As Head of Clinical Measurement Sciences at EMD Serono, Inc., Stu applies his expertise in drug development and quantitative sciences to support the HC portfolio and leads a multidisciplinary team in biostatistics, epidemiology, real-world evidence, pharmacology, clinical biomarkers, companion diagnostics, bioinformatics, data sciences, machine learning, and AI.
He is committed to evidence-based decision-making and strives to drive innovation across the R&D lifecycle to help deliver medicines to patients more efficiently. As a member of the R&D Committee of Merck, he leads an initiative for Integrated Evidence Planning aimed at enhancing the success of the R&D pipeline and oversees Data and ML/AI strategies, collaborating with others to maximize the use of real-world data and digital innovations.
He holds a master’s degree in mathematics and a doctorate in Bayesian statistical methods from the University of Sussex, which he has applied to the development of many drugs, over 20 of which are now on the market.
