David Lee is Chief Data Science Officer at Canary Medical, the medical data company that introduced smart knee replacements. He leads all AI initiatives at Canary, utilizing its proprietary implanted sensor data to develop novel digital biomarkers. The biomarkers are designed to flag abnormal recovery outcomes, advancing personalized care and improving patient outcomes.
Previously, David was Chief Data Officer at Medidata Solutions (2014 – 2020), the world’s largest clinical trial cloud platform. In this role, David provided the vision and leadership to develop AI-powered products for clinical trials, enabling improved operational efficiency and scientific risk profiles. Notably at Medidata, David applied AI to identify proteomic biomarkers, collaborating closely with Dr. David Fajgenbaum and the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network.
David’s extensive professional background also includes technical and leadership roles in insurance and consulting at AIG and Mercer. He holds a master’s degree in Statistics from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in Biometry and Statistics from Cornell University.
